Marbella is situated 60km west of Malaga, beneath the Sierra Blanca hills. It is world renowned as one of the most stylish resorts in Spain and attracts the rich and famous from around the globe but is also not out of reach to the ordinary holiday maker.
Undoubtedly one of the prettiest areas of Marbella is its old town or Casco Antiquo. With its picturesque Plaza de los Naranjos " Orange square ", which is lined with small shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. There are some impressive buildings here too, such as the Town hall and Church.
The Marbella coastline stretches along some 26 kilometres of splendid beaches.
The resort has three main beaches, Playa de la Bajadilla to the east, Playa de Venus and the Playa de la Fontanilla to the west, which is perhaps the least crowded of the three. Funny beach is where you will find all the activities such as jet skis, water slides, balloon flights, go karts etc.
Almost every kind of sporting activity imaginable can be found in this area. Horse riding, golf, water sports, fishing and tennis to name a few.
There are two large parks in Marbella which frequently host entertainment such as concerts and plays through out the Summer.
There is no shortage of places to eat and drink in Marbella, with all tastes and budgets catered for. A stroll along the famous gold mile will provide countless options, and then there are the beachfront
" Chiringitos " serving fresh fish and local specialities.
Puerto Banus is a modern marina which continues to grow in both size and reputation. The port is a mecca for the rich and famous, and is surrounded by an abundance of designer shops, restaurants, clubs and bars. There is also a casino, cinema, marine observatory and El Corte Ingles department store, ensuring Puerto Banus has all angle covered for its visitors. |
